Final Fantasy VII Revelation: Zack Fair Gets His Biggest, Longest Role Yet — Official Trailer & Everything Confirmed

⚔️ Zack's Story Is Finally Getting The Ending It Deserves

Final Fantasy VII Revelation: Zack Fair Gets His Biggest, Longest Role Yet — Official Trailer & Everything Confirmed

Square Enix has confirmed Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final chapter of the Remake trilogy, and director Naoki Hamaguchi has personally confirmed that Zack Fair's role will be bigger, longer, and more important than ever — surpassing even his expanded presence in Rebirth. Here's the official trailer and every confirmed detail about Zack's journey and the game itself.

🎬 Official Reveal Trailer

"A meteor mars the sky, monstrous Weapons rise, and the final battle against Sephiroth begins." — from Square Enix's own reveal trailer description.

⚡ How Big Is Zack's Role, Exactly?

Hamaguchi told Denfaminicogamer that Zack's screen time in Revelation is "even greater than before," and told Deadline that Zack "plays a very massive part in this last finale of the series." His playable sections have been significantly expanded with their own dedicated progression system, and he continues serving as the player's window into the trilogy's multiverse and "multiple timelines" storyline — the same narrative role he played in Rebirth, but pushed much further.

In the main timeline, Zack died in the original 1997 story — but in the remake trilogy's alternate timeline, he's alive and well, with Aerith notably absent from that reality. As the timelines intertwine further in Revelation, Zack's fate remains one of the game's biggest open questions heading into launch.

📋 Everything Else Confirmed

Story: The trilogy's conclusion — Cloud and the party race across a fully open world aboard the airship Highwind to stop Sephiroth and the destructive Meteor spell before it destroys the planet.

New Party Members: Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine join as full playable characters, each with their own combat style and expanded backstory.

New Systems: The FITS (Function Integrated Tactical Suitwear) system lets characters equip outfits that grant new skills inspired by classic Final Fantasy jobs. Players can also parachute freely from the Highwind onto the open world for the first time in the trilogy.

Weapons Return: The series' iconic giant Weapon monsters — including Ruby, Emerald, and Ultima Weapon — make a reimagined comeback as major battles.

Platforms & Release: Launching April 8, 2027 simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store — the first game in the trilogy to launch on every platform at once.

⭐ My Take: 9/10 (on scope and ambition so far) — giving Zack a genuinely bigger role instead of just teasing it is exactly what longtime fans have been asking for since Crisis Core. Combined with the open Highwind exploration and the return of the Weapons, this looks like Square Enix going all-in for the trilogy's finale rather than playing it safe.

📦 Details are based on official Square Enix statements and director interviews and may be updated closer to the April 8, 2027 release date.
