Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun Boom Review: A Brutal Retro FPS That Actually Belongs on Your Phone (Gameplay, Trailer & Download)

What if the Emperor's finest fit in your pocket?

Chainsaw-loud bolters. Pixelated gore. A Space Marine with one job: purge everything that moves. Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun Boom just landed on mobile, and it doesn't water down the chaos to fit a touchscreen — it just aims it right at your thumb. Here's the honest verdict before you install it.

🎯 Quick Verdict: A genuinely fun, fast, no-nonsense retro FPS that nails the boomer-shooter feel on mobile. Try the first 3 levels free — if the trigger finger itches for more, the full unlock is worth it.

📖 The Setup

You play as Malum Caedo, a Sternguard Veteran Space Marine, thrown into the grim darkness of the far future against Chaos cultists and daemons. There's no slow ramp-up — you get a boltgun, a mission, and a lot of enemies who need to stop existing.

🧠 Our Personal Take: 8/10

This is genuinely fun. The pixel-art carnage, the relentless pace, the chunky weapon sounds — it all captures the '90s boomer-shooter spirit without feeling like a lazy port. Levels are packed with secrets and hidden paths, which gives it real replay value for a mobile title. The rough edge is touch controls: aiming with your thumbs never quite matches a mouse or a controller, so expect a short adjustment period, and a controller is the better way to play if you have one.

Pros

• Fast, chaotic, genuinely fun combat
• No ads, no energy system
• Solid free trial before you pay
• Controller support
• Faithful to the original Boltgun's feel

Cons

• Touch controls take getting used to
• Full game locked behind an IAP
• A few handhelds not fully supported yet
