📖 Campaign Story
War erupts on the Korean Peninsula as North Korea launches a full-scale invasion that threatens to destabilize the entire region. Players step into the boots of Private Park, a young South Korean soldier facing live combat for the first time, as his squad fights to hold a collapsing front line.
Half a world away, a familiar face returns: Captain Price, now operating outside the system he once served, waging a personal, off-book war from the shadows while staying one step ahead of those hunting him. The campaign takes players from trench warfare in Korea to close-quarters combat in New York, high-speed chases through Paris, SAS night raids in Mumbai, and city-wide battles to reclaim occupied territory — as Price's mission collides with the forces behind the invasion and the war spreads beyond anyone's control.
Infinity Ward has been explicit that this entry pushes the long-running Modern Warfare storyline into darker, more dangerous territory, building toward what they describe as a powerful and emotional breaking point for the series' characters.
🎮 Multiplayer, DMZ & Warzone
Multiplayer is built around grounded, precise combat and fluid movement, giving players greater control in every fight. Day one, it ships with 12 all-new 6v6 maps set in visually and tactically distinct locations, plus large-scale maps combining vehicle and infantry combat drawn from the campaign's global conflict — from tight close-quarters fights to open battlefield engagements. New systems include the modular multiplayer battleground Kill Block, the expanded Ground War mode, and per-weapon Apex Attachments that let each gun be uniquely customized.
Alongside multiplayer, Modern Warfare 4 also brings the return of DMZ, billed as the definitive Call of Duty extraction experience — deploy solo or in a squad into a volatile conflict zone to loot, fight, negotiate, betray, and extract whatever you can carry — as well as a new Warzone Resurgence map tied directly into the campaign's story.

The Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta is currently live and completely free to play on every platform — no pre-order required. It runs from August 28 at 10:00 AM PT through September 1 at 10:00 AM PT — a 5-day window in total. Since today is August 30, there are still roughly two days left to jump in before it closes.
The free beta includes core 6v6 multiplayer maps and modes, the new Ground War: Combat Outpost and Kill Block modes, the campaign mission "Entrenched," and the new Zodiac Resurgence map in Warzone. Players who reach certain levels during the beta unlock rewards (like an operator skin and weapon blueprint) that carry over into the full game at launch on October 23.
